Grow Change

Having completed your project, you need to consider what you want to do now!

If you’ve caught the bug for making change happen, then you probably want to grow your impact by taking things to the next level!

There are 3 main options that you might want to consider:

  1. Creating another project

  2. Work with an existing organisation

  3. Creating a new organisation

Here is a guide to help you choose what might be the next best step.

After successfully delivering a project, you might want to grow what you’ve already done by creating a new and bigger project. This is perhaps the most simple option, as you can try to keep most of your team together, learn from what you’ve done and make the next one even better.

If you are looking to make your project even bigger, you may be looking to replicate what you have already done on a larger scale.

Getting funding might be a key way in which you can really take things to the next level. Now that you have some track record with your previous project, you can look to approach potential funders with confidence.

There are a wide number of fundraising options available, including:

  • Crowdfunding -
  • Spacehive (UK-based projects)
  • Trusts and foundations
  • High net-worth individuals
  • Corporates
  • Other forms of investment (for-profit organisations)

There are already so many organisations doing great work to support a range of causes.

Rather than replicating what other organisations are already doing, it can be most effective to work with an existing organisation to make the change you want to see.

You may already have worked on your project with or on behalf of an organisation, but if you’re searching for an organisation, there are a number of ways to go about it.

Think about the organisations you know who are trying to solve the challenges you aimed to address through your project. These could be NGOs, government departments, or even companies. A search on Google never hurts either!

The key thing is to find an organisation who aligns with your social objectives and may be open to working on your project with you.

There are many organisations who are searching for passionate people with skills and innovative projects that can help to make the change they want to see.

If you find the right people to approach at the organisation, either by searching online or through your network, you can get the conversation going and see where things might go from there!

LinkedIn is a great place to look for people within organisations that you might want to target.

The way that you work together with an organisation will depend on the organisation you are looking to work with.

It could be that they take on your project as part of their organisation’s activity.

You might then have the opportunity to collaborate with the organisation, including being able to harness the people, expertise, resources and community they have.

Starting an organisation is a big decision.

Before taking that step, you should really consider whether there is an already existing organisation who may be able to support you in taking your idea forward.

There are already so many organisations doing amazing stuff, that it doesn’t make sense to replicate what is already being done.

But if you think it really makes sense to consider starting an organisation, whether it be an NGO, social venture, or company, then there are quite a few things you need to consider.
