PURPOSE

To end gender based violence and prevent violence against women and children.

PROBLEM

India is the world's most dangerous country for sexual violence against women and children.

Every 92 seconds an Indian is sexually assaulted. And every 9 minutes, that victim is a child.

Sexual harassment is a day to day reality for women across India. 34,000 rapes were reported as of last year.
Women are constantly being reminded this is the society you live in. Sexual abuse is a way of life. Discrimination is a way of life. You have to adjust it.

But I realized there were people going online expressing that they have been harassed but there isn’t any information available online, nor is there information about the laws relating to sexual abuse and how do you deal with it.

SOLUTION

On this first-of-its-kind website, sexual abuse survivors will be able to first identify the exact kind of abuse — stalking, outraging modesty, molestation or rape —they face along with the sections of law applicable to each.

The website will have a checklist of which hospitals one should go to, how to file an FIR, which police station to go to and detail a woman’s rights.

Go online and type ‘I have been abused, what I should do?’ After a series of horrifying rape stories, you will get websites with generic information and helpline numbers, but there is no website that gives a woman specific steps and guidance.
There are a lot of NGOs helping women, but if a woman wants to empower herself, she struggles to find the correct information.

Here is where Action Against Violence will help her. We break down the system for survivors.

We are also focusing aggressively on psychological care and rehabilitation for victims suffering from trauma post incidents of sexual violence.
